Dr. David Ward, Global Head of Functional Safety
An experienced and acknowledged global industry expert, Dr David Ward has over 30 years' specialising in safety, security and reliability of embedded electronic systems in automotive and other industries – with particular focus on Functional Safety.
He was one of the original authors of the 1994 MISRA Guidelines, the first automotive guidance of its kind for functional safety in vehicles and the first interpretation of the principles of IEC 61508 in the industry. He is the UK principal technical expert to the ISO 26262 committee with over 20 years’ experience of the standard and with specific responsibility for Part 6 (software). He also contributes to other standards such as ISO/SAE 21434, ISO/PAS 8800 and ISO/TS 5083.
